Joy de vivre for Shriya

Shriya did not have even a single release in the year 2008. Yet she did not lose heart. She is going all guns blazing this year to turn the tide and ensure that 2009 belongs to her. The actress is shooting for three films in Tamil now and they would release at regular intervals.

Dhanush and Shriya Saran are shooting for a film titled 'Kutty', the Tamil remake of the Telugu hit 'Arya'. She has also completed shooting for 'Jaggubhai', which she hopes would take her to greater heights.

In 'Kutty', she plays a deglamourized role while in 'Jaggubhai', she plays a trendy daughter. In the Vishal starrer 'Thoranai' she plays a typical Tamil film heroine.

Meanwhile, the actress is eagerly awaiting the release of 'Kandhasamy' in which she has paired with Vikram. This film has come out with such sophistication and style that it could create a trend of sorts in the Tamil film industry. Shriya obviously is upbeat about the prospects of the film at the box office. Directed by Susi Ganesan, 'Kandhasamy' will release this May.

Trisha and Dhanush in Aadukalam

The cat is finally out of the bag….the film that brings Dhanush and Trisha together for the first time has been christened 'Aadukalam'. Directed by Vetri Maaran who had churned out 'Polladhavan' earlier, the film is expected to have a riveting storyline based on a real-life incident that happened decades ago in Madurai.

As reported earlier, Dhanush is currently undergoing rigorous training to suit an intense role that would have all the makings of generating a spellbinding performance. He plays a Madurai youth and as reports have it, he would appear in a never-seen-before appearance. His mastery over the Madurai dialect is mighty important for the film and the lanky actor is keen to get it right.

Dhanush's character is expected to be an absorbing one and as the name of the film suggests, the story could penetrate and permeate within the realms of life as a high voltage game. One gets the feeling Vetri Maaran's 'Aadukalam' would go along these lines…. a battlefield is a soldier's playground while a playground for a sportsman becomes his battlefield.

Dhanush is currently riding on a giant wave of success with a hat trick of hits. He sure would want to back this success with performances that would interest and appease audiences. Keeping this in mind, Vetri Maaran's style of filmmaking would most certainly be the right foil for Dhanush. Though just one film old, the 'Polladhavan' director has proved to be quite powerful with his style of narration.

'Aadukalam' will have Trisha playing an Anglo Indian girl who falls in love with Dhanush. Societal problems however are expected to play a major role in this love affair.

Madurai plays such a pivotal role in the film that director Vetri Maaran has started an office in the 'Temple City' to absorb the essence of the place to the fullest. Such a move is the first of its kind in the history of Tamil Cinema.

'Aadukalam' has already generated a lot of curiosity that Sun Pictures has acquired the yet-to-be-shot film and would be involved in marketed and distributing it. Shooting for the film begins in Madurai from the 22nd of this month

Karthik and Tamanna for "Paiya "

Lingusamy’s ‘Paiya’ is still hanging in the line waiting for the right heroine as Nayantara is officially not in the movie. Names of other popular heroines were considered including some debutants in Kollywood. Yet, the makers were adamant to bring in an actress who is par with the former heroine’s star status.
Media speculations stated that Trisha has been roped in to play but she denied it saying that no one has approached her for the role. Karthi will be acting in ‘Paiya’ once he completes the schedules for Selvaraghavan’s ‘Aayirathil Oruvan’. Latest update is Tamanna has been bought in to enact the female lead. Being the thriving star in Tamil cinema, she’s being touted as the best heroine to fill up Nayantara’s place.
Tamanna who is quite busy in Tamil and Telugu has somehow managed to sign up for ‘Paiya’. Her upcoming movies include ‘Ayan’, ‘Anandha Thandavam’, ‘Padikathavan’ in Tamil and ‘Koncham Ishtam Koncham Kastam’ in Telugu. Meanwhile Lingusamy home production (Thirupathy Brothers) is reportedly busy with release works of their home production ‘Patallam’ starring Nadhiya in the lead role amongst debutant boys. As the rising issue has been put to an end with Tamanna’s arrival, ‘Paiya’ might take off eventually at the earliest.
