Shriya did not have even a single release in the year 2008. Yet she did not lose heart. She is going all guns blazing this year to turn the tide and ensure that 2009 belongs to her. The actress is shooting for three films in Tamil now and they would release at regular intervals.
As reported earlier, Dhanush is currently undergoing rigorous training to suit an intense role that would have all the makings of generating a spellbinding performance. He plays a Madurai youth and as reports have it, he would appear in a never-seen-before appearance. His mastery over the Madurai dialect is mighty important for the film and the lanky actor is keen to get it right.
Dhanush's character is expected to be an absorbing one and as the name of the film suggests, the story could penetrate and permeate within the realms of life as a high voltage game. One gets the feeling Vetri Maaran's 'Aadukalam' would go along these lines…. a battlefield is a soldier's playground while a playground for a sportsman becomes his battlefield.
Dhanush is currently riding on a giant wave of success with a hat trick of hits. He sure would want to back this success with performances that would interest and appease audiences. Keeping this in mind, Vetri Maaran's style of filmmaking would most certainly be the right foil for Dhanush. Though just one film old, the 'Polladhavan' director has proved to be quite powerful with his style of narration.
'Aadukalam' will have Trisha playing an Anglo Indian girl who falls in love with Dhanush. Societal problems however are expected to play a major role in this love affair.
Madurai plays such a pivotal role in the film that director Vetri Maaran has started an office in the 'Temple City' to absorb the essence of the place to the fullest. Such a move is the first of its kind in the history of Tamil Cinema.
'Aadukalam' has already generated a lot of curiosity that Sun Pictures has acquired the yet-to-be-shot film and would be involved in marketed and distributing it. Shooting for the film begins in Madurai from the 22nd of this month
The latest news from the Kanthaswamy camp is that Vikram besides playing the lead role has sung four songs and enacts the same on screen. After M K Thyagaraja Bhagavathar, this is perhaps the first time that an actor has voiced for all of his songs in Tamil cinema, said director Susi Ganesan. Heaping laurels on Vikram, the director said, "I happened to hear him sing once. Impressed by his voice, I suggested that he should sing the songs for the film. This idea was carried out to both music composer Devi Sri Prasad and producer Kalaipuli S Thanu. Both agreed and we recorded one song initially. His work was so professional, that we started to use his voice for the other songs too'.
On his part, Devi Sri Prasad, said, 'Vikram is one of the rare singers, who can sing in both low and high scales. His voice has a unique feel. He emotes through his voice and it was great working with him'.
On his part Vikram said, "I thank my producer, director and music composer for making this happen. The songs were peppy and good. With Devi Sri Prasad's guidance, I managed to pull it off'.
Asked whether he would explore playback singing as another career option, Vikram, said, 'no idea as of now. If time permits, lets us think about it'.
Dwelling on the movie, producer Thanu said, "Plans are on to dub the movie in Spanish along with the audio album which will get released in the language. The movie has come really good and conveys a strong message."
Susi Ganesan, said, "We are confident that the movie which has shaped up with utmost co -operation from Vikram will make it big. We are not eyeing for any awards, but confident that any award for best entertainer will reach us."
Finally, actor Arya has shaved his famous beard and shortened his long hair. Actor Arya after spectacular complete bearded look for the past one and half year is now back to form with a fresh look for his upcoming movie Sarvam. Director Vishnuvardhan’s next movie is Sarvam. Arya and Trisha form the lead in Sarvam. Chakravarthy is villain in this movie. The Sarvam movie is produced by ayngaran international and Sarvam will be directed by Vishnuvardhan. Vishnuvardhan, after giving hits like Arindhum Ariyamalum, Pattiyal, and Billa, has now written an action-packed story for Arya. The film Sarvam shooting will start from June 1st week in Chennai.
'Arundhathi' the graphical extravaganza is working wonders at the box office. The film that has been directed by Kodi Ramakrishna and produced by M. Shyam Prasad Reddy is being dubbed in Tamil.
It can be recalled that Dasari Narayana Rao made the film 'Ahankari' with Rajasekhar. It is now learnt that the director will be making another film starring Rajasekhar soon.
Tamanna stepped in to Telugu industry through the film 'Sri' in which Manoj was the hero. Unfortunately, the film had a lukewarm response and did not favor Tamanna much. Later she did a lead role in a Tamil film called 'Kedi' which flopped big time so much so its Telugu version 'Jadu' proved to be a dud too.
Koena Mitra seems to be making the right strides in becoming popular in Kollywood. The sensuous beauty from Bollywood has reportedly been roped in to do an item number in the Suriya starrer 'Ayan'. According to sources, she agreed to shake her legs for a song in 'Ayan' after she was paid a huge sum. However reports say that she refuses to appear in item songs in Bollywood.
'Ayan', produced by AVM and presented by Sun Pictures, features Suriya and Tamanna in lead roles. Directed by K. V. Anand, the film has musical score by Harris Jayaraj. The songs are already topping the audio charts.
Vishal who is currently busy working for the film 'Thoranai' which is directed by Sabha Ayyapan has written in his blog that he has decided to call off his project with director Selvaraghavan. Though no particular reason has been cited, Vishal wrote that it was a tough decision to make and justified it by saying 'I always believe in the films I take up right from day one and till the very end. I also put all my efforts into them irrespective of what the result would be at the end of it. Some kind of positive force would keep me going...but this time I felt otherwise ....wouldn't want to tell anything more. I hope to work with Selva sometime in the near future. I respect him as a director and I wish him all the best in his forthcoming movie'.
Vishal sounds very diplomatic here using the tone of a thorough professional. What really conspired for him to take a decision like this and that too with a reputed director like Selvaraghavan remains a mystery.
Speculation in the air suggests that the duration of the project might have been a concern for Vishal as Selvaraghavan is known to take at least a year to complete a film. Vishal is a rising star and that kind of timeframe might not help his career on the whole. Selvaraghavan’s ‘Idhu Maalai Nerathu Mayakkam’ which will have Dhanush and Andrea in lead roles however has been planned to be wrapped up fast. (Probably because it is their home production).
Trisha is confident that 2009 would be a terrific year for her. The actress, who returned from a vacation in Australia, went over to Gujarat for shooting. She is part of the Telugu version of 'Abhiyum Naanum'. She has a busy year lined up as she would be playing the leading lady in a host of films including one with Gautham Menon that is to star Silambarasan. Moreover she is also part of a Telugu film that stars Gopichand and Sathyaraj.
A thrilled Trisha said, ' I am happy with the response I received for 'Abhiyum Naanum'. One rarely gets an opportunity to play such roles.'
Though I have acted with Prakashraj earlier, this is the first time, we played father and daughter. Director Radha Mohan ensured it was realistic and entertaining', she added.
Asked whether Trisha would be the heroine in the Dhanush film directed by Vetri Maaran, the actress said, 'wait for a few more days for the official announcement. It is too early to comment'.
Trisha sure would be happy to be pairing with young heroes like Silambarasan and Dhanush as that would keep her morale of being a young chirpy girl going on screen.
Ajith is gearing up for his next film that is to be directed by Saran. The movie tentatively titled 'Asal' will be produced by Sivaji Productions and would have musical score by Harris Jayaraj. Ajith who would be playing an action role in the film has gone in for a drastic change in his looks. He will be sporting a long moustache like that of Kamal Haasan in 'Virumandi'. He has also reportedly lost considerable weight after undergoing rigorous workouts.
The shooting for the film is slated to begin next month. Expectations are high on the film as Ajith and Saran had earlier teamed up to render hit films such as 'Kadhal Mannan', 'Amarkalam' and 'Attagasam' earlier.
Yavarum Nalam', a film that is simultaneously being made in Hindi as '13 B', will hit the screens on the 6th of March.
Everybody knows what Sun Network is capable of when they do business. With a clear understanding of viewers' tastes they go all out in reaching almost everyone in the State of Tamilnadu with tremendous effect. All the films they have presented till now have had great openings. Sun Pictures obviously thinks Dhanush is hot property right now with a hat trick of successes – Vetri Maaran's 'Polladhavan', Jawahar's 'Yaaradi Nee Mohini' and Suraj's 'Padikkathavan'. Padikkathavan, presented by Sun Pictures is the leading grosser among the films that were released recently.
With a visible intent to keep the association with Dhanush going, Sun Pictures is gearing up to produce a film that will star the actor. Moreover, Sun Pictures has also acquired the yet-to-be produced Vetri Maaran film that will start shooting this month in Madurai. The film brings together all those who worked for 'Polladhavan' in a bid to recreate the success. The leading lady of this yet-to-be-named film however would be different and could feature Trisha (the confirmation is expected in about a week's time).
Yet another yet-to-be-made film that is to star Dhanush, 'Kutty' has also been acquired by Sun Pictures. Directed by Jawahar, the film is the remake of the Telugu hit 'Arya'.
Clearly, Sun Pictures has smelt that Dhanush is the man for the future. With their regular marketing strategy being aggressive cross-platform promotion, the combo of Sun Pictures and Dhanush might very well see phenomenal results.
